An earthquake rocked various parts of the country at exactly 4:47 yesterday afternoon. According to PHIVOLCS, the tremor, the epicenter of which was estimated to be within PANAY Island, was felt at
Intensity 6 in Iloilo
Intensity 5 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental & Canlaon City, Negros Oriental
Intensity 3 in Cebu City & Sorsogon
Intensity 2 in Camiguin Island; Palo, Leyte & in Manila
Intensity 1 in Quezon City.
It was of tectonic in origin, due to the movement of the earth's crust along the earthquake-generating structures like the TABLAS Fault & the NEGROS Trench.
Saturday/ June 16, 1990 reports:
4 persons were killed and 15 others were injured in the 15-second Intensity 6.4 earthquake which reached the Visayas (last Thursday, June 14). The 4 were all from CULASI, ANTIQUE. They were crushed to death by heavy blocks of concrete from collapsing buildings. At least 20 families were rendered homeless and that several roads and a bridge in CULASI, Antique were damaged. Hardest hit were Aklan and Antique.
